Artist Statement
Generally, when I make a quilt for someone, I relax and really enjoy the process.
The quilts evolve on their own and take on their own identity. And, generally
the quilts come out beautifully. With Tres Tulips, I found myself getting
stressed and not enjoying the process as much as I usually do because of WHO
I was making it for and the size constraints. I had to keep cutting the quilt
down and not let it have a life of its own.
Ricky Tims' lively, cut-loose, no-ruler, enjoy-yourself attitude when cutting out a quilt and quilting that quilt has influenced me more than I realized – this quilt is dedicated to him.
