Turia Pitt hospitalized after stepping on a sewing needle that went through her foot

Turia Pitt was hospitalized last Friday after stepping on a sewing needle while visiting family on the NSW coast.

The inspirational burn survivor and motivational speaker recalled letting out “a stream of swear words” after a sharp pain shot through her foot.

“I didn’t know what happened, but somehow I found the courage to look at my foot,” she explained.

Ouch! Turia Pitt was hospitalized after stepping on a sewing needle while visiting family on the NSW coast

“I scanned the hotel floor and spotted a thin silver needle sticking out of the carpet, like a soldier about to go into battle.”

“‘You absolute asshole,’ I said to the eye of the sewing needle, casting a sinister gaze over his dismembered body. All but a third remained.

Turia said as she pulled a third of the needle out, she didn’t know a section was still inside her foot until she felt unbearable pain the next day.

“I know the pain. I have suffered many times over the past decade. For me, it’s manageable, because I’m recovering. I’m better,” she said.

It comes after Turia shared her top tips for staying motivated.

“I like to think of my energy and focus as a torch, and a torch only shines in one direction. So when I was scared, overwhelmed and stressed, where was that torch shining on me? , she told Daily Mail Australia.

“I had to change direction. How? I asked myself different questions. I asked myself what I could do to give back to my community. I wondered what I could be grateful for. I wondered what I could do usefully, Turia continued.

“So when you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, my advice is to shift your focus. Ask yourself, ‘How can I be of service? How can I do the best job I can do right now? And from what can I be grateful right now?”

JAIPUR: Needles, knives or other unreached objects placed near toddlers or infants can cause accidents at any time. In such a case of parental neglect, doctors at Sawai Man Singh Hospital (SMS) removed a two-inch-long needle, used to sew clothes from the left lobe of a two-year-old boy’s liver, which was released from the hospital. hospital after a seven-day stay following an operation at the hospital on Thursday.
The boy was first taken to JK Lon Hospital as the needle thread was clearly visible in the area between the lower left chest and abdomen where the needle had entered. The boy’s parents informed the doctor that they did not know how the needle entered the baby’s body.
When the doctors tried to pull the needle out, they only succeeded in pulling out the thread because the needle had moved completely inside the baby’s stomach area.
JK Lon Hospital referred the baby to SMS Medical College Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. Doctors tried to locate the needle using X-rays. The needle was located inside the stomach. When the doctors started the operation, they couldn’t find the needle in the stomach area.
“Upon closer examination, we found that the needle had entered the left lower lobe of the liver. The two-inch needle was one inch inside the liver. We were able to remove the needle, which caused a minor liver injury which will be healed within the next few months,” said Dr. Anil Sharma, Chief of Department (Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery) at SMS Hospital.
Dr Sharma said the boy could have died if the needle punctured the aorta, the inferior vena cava which is an important vein supplying blood from the lower trunk, abdomen and lower limbs to the right atrium of the heart.

(CNN) – Ohio police say they are disturbed after two sewing needles are found in halloween candy.

The candy was tampered with after a sleight of hand across town on Saturday night, Fostoria police said in a statement on Sunday.

“Although we are only aware of 2 candies involved, we take this seriously and are appalled that someone is to the point of wanting to hurt the children in our community,” said Chief Keith Loreno.

Police said it was unclear which street the child got the candy on, but they are warning everyone to check their child’s bags.

A local hospital, the ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital, has offered to provide x-rays of all sweets handed out during the event, using a portable x-ray machine, from Monday, police said.

In footage of the tainted candy shared by police, part of a Kit Kat bar is broken, revealing a needle inside. Another image shows a bag of Sour Patch Kids with a small hole in the side.

Fostoria police called the find “disturbing” in a Facebook post, and they are looking for the responsible.

Even though events like this are frightening, University of Delaware professor Joel Best, who has been tracking fake Halloween candy since 1958, told CNN it’s not common.

“I can’t find any evidence that a child has ever been killed or seriously injured by a contaminated treat picked up during a sleight of hand,” Best said.

“Although reports of tainted treats do occur, I know of only two efforts to try to investigate the reports of tainted treats; both concluded that most were hoaxes.”

A needle was found stuck in the seat of a Kowloon Motors double-decker bus on Thursday night, prompting a police investigation.

The incident happened on a bus traveling on route 59X to the east terminal of Mong Kok, according to police. A female passenger told the driver she found the needle in a seat on the upper deck of the bus.

Later, the driver took the bus back to the Lai Chi Kok depot, where he filed a police report. Officers arrived at the scene and found a 3cm long sewing needle.

No one was injured and the incident was classified as a property damage case.

This is not the first time sharp objects have been stuck in bus seats. In 2019, a man admitted to sticking needles into bus seats the previous year to injure passengers because his drivers failed to stop at designated bus stops, interfering with his journey. He was sentenced to two years in prison.

The bizarre crime appeared to spark a series of copycat incidents, with no less than a dozen cases on multiple bus routes reported since then. Sharp objects included sewing needles, acupuncture needles and thumbtacks.

Just last month, a passenger on a bus traveling on the 13M line discovered a screw about 8cm long stuck in a seat. The bus was near Sau Mau Ping Estate in Kwun Tong when the passenger found the screw, according to Mingpao.

A 15-year-old boy who inserted a tied USB cable into his penis had to be operated on after it got stuck inside him.

The unidentified teenager, from London, told doctors he inserted the cable to “measure the length of his penis”.

But his experience took a turn for the worse when the already knotted cable got stuck with both ends of the USB sticking out of his limb.

The boy made several attempts to remove it himself, but this caused him to urinate a large amount of blood, prompting his family to take him to A&E.

The x-ray of the tied USB cable after it got stuck inside the boy’s body. The teen inserted it into his penis during a sexual experience that went awry. After repeated attempts to remove the object by itself and by medical professionals failed, an x-ray was ordered to determine the exact size and location of the object before surgery.

Hospital staff also failed to remove the cable using special tools due to the position of the knot, doctors detailed in the newspaper. Urology case reports.

The boy was rushed to University College Hospital in London for further treatment.

He requested to be examined in his mother’s absence and confessed to staff that he inserted the cable to measure his penis out of sexual curiosity.

After an x-ray revealed the exact size and positions of the knot, the teenager was sent for surgery.

In an effort to remove the cable, surgeons cut lengthwise his bulbospongiosis muscle, an area between the genitals and the anus.

Doctors managed to extract the knot through the incision and then separate it from the rest of the cable.

After the knot was removed, the two remaining pieces of the cable were pulled out of the opening in his penis.

There were no complications in his recovery and he was released from the hospital the next day.

Follow-up scans two weeks after the operation revealed no lasting damage, but doctors noted the boy would need continued monitoring in the future.

Although claiming that such cases are rare, doctors said previous cases have shown that a wide variety of objects have been inserted into the opening of the penises in the same manner.

Clio Kennedy and the other doctors who treated the boy cited needles, pins, wire, and pistachio shells as examples.

The most common reasons for doing so are sexual curiosity, practicing sex after poisoning, and mental disorders, doctors noted.

Inserting objects into the opening of the penis for sexual pleasure is known as probing, which comes with a number of risks.

If an object gets stuck inside the penis, it can cause several potential problems.

These can range from a burning sensation after urinating, large amounts of blood in the urine, an inability to urinate and painful erections.

More serious complications, such as the bladder, a hole appearing in the bladder, and scarring of the tube that carries urine out of the body may require major reconstructive procedures.

Doctors noted that a detailed patient history on the inserted object and the method of doing so is essential for the investigation of healthcare professionals.

This highlighted the need to discuss the problem with patients in an “encouraging, non-judgmental manner,” as patients may feel “uncomfortable” providing all of the relevant information, the doctors said.
